Lanzhou University's College of Earth and Environmental Sciences Holds Training on Forestry Carbon Sink and Ecological Product Value Realization Mechanism in the New Era

From August 23rd to 25th, Lanzhou University's College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, in collaboration with the Lanzhou Municipal Forestry Bureau, organized a training program on the Forestry Carbon Sink and Ecological Product Value Realization Mechanism in the New Era at the Liancheng Field Station. Professor Gou Xiaohua, Vice President of Lanzhou University and head of the Liancheng Field Station, delivered a video speech. Attendees included Wei Zhouzhong, Deputy Director of the Lanzhou Municipal Forestry Bureau, Jin Baopen, a Level Four researcher, Zhang Hongyun, Deputy Director of the Liancheng National Nature Reserve Management Bureau in Gansu, Professor Li Yu, Dean of the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University, and more than 50 officials and staff members from the Lanzhou Municipal Forestry Bureau.

During the opening ceremony, Professor Gou Xiaohua expressed gratitude for the strong support from the Lanzhou Municipal Forestry Bureau and the Liancheng National Nature Reserve Management Bureau in research projects and the construction of the Liancheng Field Station. He emphasized Lanzhou University's commitment to fully implementing Xi Jinping's ecological civilization ideology, firmly establishing the concept that green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver. He further stated that Lanzhou University will continue to support the ecological civilization construction in Lanzhou City, accelerate the transformation of ecological product values, and promote high-quality development of forestry and grassland. Deputy Director Wei Zhouzhong conveyed important directives and measures for Gansu Province's "Strong Province Capital" action from the provincial government and the Lanzhou Municipal Committee and Government. He pointed out that ecological civilization construction in Lanzhou City is an integral part of Gansu Province's efforts to become a strong province capital. Conducting this training program will help strengthen the talent pool within Lanzhou's forestry system, guiding cadres and staff to profoundly grasp the essence of the forest and grassland system in the context of the dual-carbon strategy and high-quality development. Deputy Director Zhang Hongyun of the Liancheng National Nature Reserve Management Bureau reviewed the extensive cooperation in scientific research and field station construction between the nature reserve and the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University. He expressed hopes for further scientific research collaboration, aiming to elevate field station construction to new heights. Professor Li Yu, Dean of the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University, expressed gratitude on behalf of the college for the support from the Lanzhou Municipal Forestry Bureau and the Liancheng National Nature Reserve Management Bureau. He stressed that providing scientific support for Lanzhou City's ecological civilization construction is an imperative duty of the college. The college will continue to enhance cooperation with relevant institutions and contribute to Gansu Province's "Strong Province Capital" initiative.

Following the opening session, Professor Wei Liang, Researcher Ma Weijing, Researcher Zhang Junzhou, Dr. Yang Haijiang, Dr. Cao Zongying from Lanzhou University's College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Associate Professor Li Jingzhong from Xuchang University delivered specialized training sessions on the forestry carbon sink and ecological product value realization mechanism. The participants engaged in lively discussions about the training content and future work direction.

After the training, the attendees, along with the leadership, visited the comprehensive building and the Quanwan and Nursery Observation Sites at the Liancheng Field Station. Researcher Zhang Junzhou provided a detailed introduction to the construction of the field station and scientific observation research.
